About Me

I originally hail from Eau Claire, Wisconsin where I grew up riding horses, climbing trees and tripping over my own feet. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Minnesota in 2004. During that time I began my now nearly two-decade journey with Shapiro & Smith Dance beginning with an apprenticeship in 2002 and later becoming a company member in 2006. I additionally serve as their administrative assistant and board treasurer, I am currently in my 18th year with the company. I was also a company member and teaching artist with Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theater from 2005-2019. In 2012 I was nominated for a SAGE Dance Award for “Outstanding Performer” and in 2013 I was a recipient of a McKnight Artist Fellowship for Dancers. I returned to school in 2014 and received my Associate of Applied Science degree in Photography and Digital Imaging in the Spring of 2018 and am currently working as a free-lance photographer. As a dancer for nearly 30 years, I have spent the majority of my artistic life creating and communicating with my body and through physical and emotional intentions. Throughout my artistic career, the most significant thing that I've learned is that "we all have a story to tell." As a photographer, I strive to bring that same sense of emotional intention and movement to tell those essential stories, the ones that are sometimes hard to capture in just words.
